Cut Trees, pile and

Canyon de Chelly National Monument - Today
De Chelly Tours
Canyon De Chelly National Monument today, is
going through some changes in removal of the
invasive species, Tamaris and Russia Olive
Trees.  In 1930s, these trees were introduced in
the southwest for erosion control.  It wasn't
until within the last two decades that the land
owners of the canyon started having problems
with the invasive species.

In going on a jeep tour you'll see some areas
that are cleared of  these Exotic Trees.
