The real appeal of Canyon de Chelly is the canyon itself. There is a great deal to
see.

You can't access the area unless you go with a Navajo guide. We did this, and it
turned out to be the highlight of our 2 week road trip.

We were picked up at the Holiday Inn by Leander of Canyon de Chelly tours and
headed out in an air-conditioned vehicle. Leander was very knowledgable and a
really nice fellow to boot.

We made lots of stops, took way too many photos. Along the way, we learned
about Navajo history and culture. I asked flora/fauna questions and Leander was
able to answer them all. We had a really great time.

Very highly recommended.

".. As a child, I remember listening to a lot of Chauncey's stories of the canyon
while sitting around a campfire. I consider myself very lucky that I was made
aware of the earlier stories and my own history. As a Tour Guide today it is a
very competitive business. However, that does not get me down. I am always
glad to show my home to visitors and carry on the legacy that my
great-grandfather Chauncey instilled in me. ---Don"
